The app was designed to work in cars that have touchscreens and those that only have a CD or cassette player. The tasks available to complete are: create a new account, take the genre survey, create a new trip, add a station to your favorites list, adjust settings, logout, and log in.

The primary function of DEAD ZONE is to pre-plan trips. However, the app also allows the user to check the availability of local stations in their current location. The app is designed to help the user avoid driving in silence on long trips or flipping through stations constantly trying to find a new station.
